I was a Special Needs teacher for 16 years; I worked in a number of settings – Special schools, mainstream schools, primary, secondary, and including a Secure Unit for Young Offenders. My main area of interest and expertise is Autistic Spectrum Disorders; I worked for 10 years supporting pupils with ASD in a mainstream secondary school. As part of this role I worked closely with parents and other professionals to support the pupils at home and at school. I was also involved in training other teachers in working effectively with pupils with ASD. After the birth of my first baby I trained as a HypnoBirth Practitioner and returned to my teaching job part-time while also setting up my practice in HypnoBirthing.

I have enjoyed working with pregnant couples so much since qualifying as a HypnoBirth Practitioner; being a part of such an amazing process and helping the parents to trust themselves and their baby is such a special role to play in their lives – it makes such a difference.  I am passionate about extending this role to working with new mothers and babies to help ease the transition into the world. I love helping women to realise that they are their own experts, and providing the support they need to really enjoy those first wonderful months.

I am a mother of two wonderful children, neither birth was straightforward but using HypnoBirthing helped me to accept and enjoy each experience. Along with every other new mother, I started out on a fantastic journey of discovery, making plenty of my own mistakes along the way! It is so refreshing to know my ‘mistakes’ are part of the learning process that my whole family are involved in – and we have a lot of fun as we learn, too. In between being a mum and all my professional activities, I am passionate about rock-climbing. I have travelled and climbed in many places around the world, I was a member of the British Competition Climbing Team for a few years, and had a great time competing all over Europe.
